COLORS & SURFACES

An inexhaustible variety of colors and glazes, engobes and the surface structure from smooth to wavy open up further scope for achieving significant effects and setting new standards. Extreme care is required, especially with the surface structure. Consistent quality at a high standard and the thorough processing of the ceramic facade are what count here. The potential of the our façade solutions are almost unlimited and our Team is constantly adding new, sophisticated solutions to the range of products on offer, which can provide an appropriate response to the challenges of contemporary architecture.

In Florence the color of terracotta is red, same as the cupola of Florence Dome and the roofs of the town. Near Venice terracotta is ochre as the shade of the bricks used over centuries to construct homes of that region. Faraway, in Beijing, the ancient streets of the town are paved with small tiles in a light grey color, manufactured by firing clay in traditional kilns heated by wood, a process which has been used for thousands of years and which is still working today. During the realization of its projects Palagio has learnt, in a long process of research, to reproduce the terracotta colors known in different places of the world. Through the addition of metal oxides and the calibrated dosing of other clays during our mixing process, a range of colors can be obtained which can always give an inspiration to the Designer for the realization of his project.

NATURAL COLORS

When it comes to the colors, we distinguish between natural and glazed - glossy and matt - colors. Our facade tiles are available as standard in up to 15 natural brick colors, splitted in 6 families. These colors refer to the intrinsic colors of the fired, unglazed ceramic tile, so that no visually distracting shards can be made visible as a result of any cut ends. The chromaticity is achieved through special compositions of the raw materials used; In this case, the tiles are not treated further after the burning process. On request, new natural special colors are developed for you in addition to the existing colors on an order basis.
